Disappearing message feature that brings you messages, files, WhatsApp will disappear automatically: WhatsApp, the world’s most popular short messaging platform, has been making headlines for almost every day with new features. Over the past few weeks, this social networking medium has added multiple features like new stickers, a new search interface,s and Always Mute.
Meanwhile, it has been heard for the last few months that WhatsApp is working on a new feature called Disappearing Message. This time the company itself confirmed that they will soon be making this fun and a necessary feature called ‘Disappearing Messages’ available to the users.
What is this ‘Disappearing Messages’ feature?
Information on this new feature has been updated on WhatsApp’s FAQ page, which looks like chat messages will be short-lived, meaning that once read, the messages will disappear at certain times – much like Instagram, Snapchat, or WhatsApp’s story.
According to the FAQ page, users will soon be able to use this ‘dis-appearing message’ feature in general chats and group chats. In this case, there will be a time limit of 7 days and the messages will be deleted automatically after the specified time has elapsed. Users may have the option to enable or disable this feature for general or individual chats, but it is assumed that only admins can control this feature in a group chat.
However, if this special setting is available, it can only be used for new messages. This means that the feature will not apply to all messages that were exchanged before the feature became available. This feature will also apply to chat media files, but if the auto-download option is turned on in the media settings, the media files will be saved in the file storage of the smartphone even if they vanish from the chat. Also, if a user does not open a message within 7 days, the message will disappear if the ‘Dis-Applying Message’ option is on.
According to reports, the beta version of WhatsApp has already received some updates regarding the Disappearing Messages feature. But now the messaging app has officially confirmed that this feature will be available to all users soon. According to the company, this will help users maintain privacy. Although WhatsApp has not said for sure when this feature will be available. By the way, this special message setting is already available on Snapchat.
